Mas Pubill (17th C.) is in Castellfollit del Boix, in the geographical center of Catalonia. In a very mountainous environment, mostly surrounded by forests, the wine-growing heritage all over the estate has been preserved and revived. The large, tiled vats in the old cellar, the Pubill water mill and a dry-stone tank found recently have all been preserved. The vines are surrounded by small fields, terraces and patches of land growing crops demonstrating the size and importance of the property during the second half of the 19th century.
In this splendid environment, Enric, the young wine-grower, is once again making the most of the inherited potential of the landscape in a family project that prizes quality above quantity. To achieve microproduction with ecological awareness and minimal intervention, he works the land carefully and precisely. He is firmly committed to growing and understanding traditional grape varieties such as Picapoll Blanc, Mandó and Sumoll, and also the Corbella olive variety. This does not mean, however, that he does not also work with varieties that have adapted very well to El Bages, such as Cabernet Franc. The winery’s philosophy is for its wines to be expressions of these varieties and Entrebosc’s references always seek purity. They are single-variety wines intended to expand and grow the rich, extensive wine-making heritage of Pla de Bages.
